  1. The airport designator code "MCO" comes from the former McCoy Air Force Base, on which site, located at -81.08°W 28.96° N, and at 113 feet above sea level, Orlando International Airport now stands
  2. Orlando International Airport has Scheduled Non-Stop Service to More Major Destinations in the U.S. than most other airports in the U.S., including all of the any other airport in Florida
  3. The lake at the north entrance to the airport is named Okee Hawnkay Lokosee, which is Seminole for "Bugger Bear", the nickname of former GOAA employee, Norman Glass 
  4. Orlando International Airport has four parallel runways, two which are 12,000 feet long, one which is 10,000 feet long, and one which is 9,000 feet in length, allowing triple-simultaneous operation 
  5. Even with an Annual Budget exceeding $300 million, No local Tax Dollars are used to fund the Airport - all funding comes from the Airlines, Hotel and Concessions, Parking and Ground Transportation, Rental Car Companies, Tradeport, Federal Grants and Passenger Facility Charges
  6. More than 50 airlines serve Orlando International Airport, which continues to attract New Air Service every month
  7. Orlando International Airport is a major utility consumer, using: 
    • Electricity - 167,993,141 kilowatt hours per year (460,225 kWh per day) 
    • Water - 342,826 kilo gallons  per year (939 kilo gallons per day)
  8. Orlando International Airport covers an area of almost 15,000 acres, the third largest airport area in the U.S., and nearly 5 times the size of Miami International Airport. The terminal buildings have a total square footage of almost 4.5 million square feet:

  1. With over 34 million passengers in 2005, more passengers used Orlando International Airport than any other airport in Florida
  2. Amongst its array of Passenger Facilities, Orlando International Airport has 50 Shops, 50 Bars & Restaurants, and a Hotel inside the Main Terminal
